Hello friend! If you've arrived here, you're likely a parent, soon-to-be parent, or someone who cares deeply about bringing up children in this complex world we live in. Welcome to ParenthoodVibes, my little corner of the web dedicated to unpacking all the vibrance, joy, challenges and insights around modern parenting.
As a parent of two young kids myself, I created this site to chronicle the winding road of parenthood - the profound moments of love and meaning, the days that grind you down to the bone, and everything in between. My hope is that in sharing my unfiltered thoughts and learnings in this safe, supportive space, other parents out there will feel less alone and better equipped for the wild ride that is raising little humans!
After having my first child, my world was turned upside down in the most incredible way. Yet no one could've prepared me for the all-consuming nature of caring for this helpless little being that now relied fully on me for survival. The late nights blurring into early mornings. The days when showering felt like winning a medal. My identity, career, relationship with my partner—everything was thrown into the air.
At times I felt isolated, doubting if I could handle it all. And yet amidst the chaos was a love so primal it shook me to my core. When my son looked into my eyes, I saw the meaning of life. When he spoke his first word, my heart nearly burst. I had found my calling.
Still, I yearned for guidance. As an avid reader and researcher, I scoured books, articles, blog posts - anything to help me navigate this new terrain. Some resonated, others didn't. What I craved most was hearing from real parents going through the daily trenches of feeding, bathing, worrying, and wondering about it all.
So that's the vision for this site. A place for us to learn from each other's truths. To know we aren't alone. To see the fragments of chaos and beauty that together form the messy mosaic called parenthood.
If I've learned anything on this journey so far, it's that there's no one right way to raise compassionate, thoughtful kids. Every family is different. As parents, the best we can do is carefully listen to our children's needs while also nurturing our own mental health and passions. With that said, here are a few of my guiding principles:
While I try to live by these, I often fall short. Parenting pushes us to our limits. But if we come from a place of compassion (for our kids and ourselves), we'll find our way.
My goal is to provide a breadth of parenting topics through personal stories, advice from experts, book reviews, and more. A few areas I plan to focus on include:
